Volunteer Job Descriptions

Venue Captains/Front of House Manager (FOH): This leadership role is a critical process and only individuals who have prior Fringe Front of House management experience as a Venue Captain may register for these shifts. Please note in your email any previous Fringe FOH experience if you did not work at Fringe 2010. If you are a new volunteer and have relevant experience in theatre and  front of house management that establishes your capacity in this role please include that detail in your email to us and we will contact you before assigning the requested shifts.

Ushers: Ticket taking and seating assistance at Fringe theatre venues. Ushers typically get to see one or two shows per shift for free! For this reason, we ask that for every usher shift you sign up for, you sign up for an additional non-usher shift.

Ticket Seller: Responsible for selling theatre tickets at the Fringe theatre Venues as well as around the Fringe site. Must be comfortable handling money.

Volunteer Scheduling Clerk: Oversees volunteer sign-in, sign-out, and shift assignment from Fringe Central. Due to the higher level of responsibility of this shift, it is recommended that you have previous volunteering experience with the Fringe.

Box Office Admin: Preparation of dockets for delivery to venues, reconciliation of returned dockets (ticket verification and counting), assisting with volunteer scheduling as necessary.

Box Office/Venue Floater: This is the Jack(or Jill)-of-all-trades position that may find you helping reconcile tickets, sell buttons, make deliveries around site, or anywhere else that needs a bit more help.

Fringe Central Runner: These are the individuals who make speedy deliveries between the venues, keeping everything flowing smoothly.

Site Crew: Responsible for site maintenance and tidying up of Broadway Avenue and nearby surrounding area.

Site Surveyor: Every year, we ask our Fringe fans what they love about the festival and what we could do better. The site surveyor will roam the festival site and ask patrons to complete our survey with them.
