SUSTAINABLE. ENGAGING. COMMUNITY. ART.
Dear Community Members,
Every year since 1989, 25th Street Theatre has looked forward to welcoming local, national, and
international artists to the Saskatoon Fringe Theatre Festival. The Saskatoon Fringe Festival is one of the most beloved events in our community, bringing together artists from all over the world in celebration of creating independent theatre, which is why it is so hard to write this letter.
Given the necessary health and safety restrictions pertaining to COVID-19, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Saskatoon Fringe Festival which was scheduled to take place from July 30th to August 8th, 2020.
This was a hard decision to make – we understand how important the Saskatoon Fringe Festival is to everyone involved – but we need to prioritize the health and safety of our artists, our patrons, our vendors, our volunteers, and our staff.
Is 25th Street going to be doing any replacement programming?
We hope to be doing something online to ensure that the work of our artists and artisan vendors remains in the public consciousness. What exactly this will look like is still in the development phase, but we will be sure to contact you with more information once we have our ducks in a row.
Where do I go to with my follow up questions?
You can still reach us by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
I want to thank you for being so patient with us as we navigated our way through this decision-making process and for all the support you have shown to 25th Street Theatre and the Saskatoon Fringe Festival over the years. We look forward to gathering with you again in 2021, but until then, please stay safe and take care of each other.
Anita Smith (Executive Director) with the Staff and Board of 25th Street Theatre
